LYL: crab & grapefruit salad

I adore grapefruit. I try to use it in the place of lemons or limes whenever I can. However, I am allergic to shellfish. Looking forward to seeing all your citrusy salads, though. :)

Leave your links, yall.

After a couple of weeks off for spring break we’re back with a very spring-like salad! http://www.franklyentertaining.com/2012/03/30/ffwd-crab-and-grapefruit-salad/

    Loved, loved, loved this.

It must be spring now – this morning, for the first time, I saw a bunny nibbling off the top of the 3″ tall lily plants that are trying to push their way out of the ground. Bad bunny.

This is a favorite! I did take a few creative licenses (sriracha!) but loved the concept.

With avocado and cilantro, sort of like a Mexican-inspired ceviche (from a French cookbook)! Delicious!

I feel like such a downer this month, but this one just wasn’t a hit in my house. I blame sub-par ingredients, because I guess otherwise I would have to blame the chef, and I know that can’t be right :-)

Hi gang! Did anyone find the grapefruit drying a must? I did it, and wasn’t wowed. Had some leftover then added more fresh grapefruit the next day and couldn’t really tell the difference. (btw, next day the salad was tasty too, a bit more ceviche-like, but not bad at all.)

Interesting to hear from someone who tried it both ways. As I was making the salad I was wondering why it was important to let it sit for so long, but I only had it the one way so I can’t comment on what the difference would have been.

I’m a crab/grapefruit combo convert. Liked this salad. Amy, I dried my grapefruit for 6 hours – didn’t seem real moist to me in the first place, but, with Dorie, there’s a reason for everything. Kinda depends on the fruit, I guess, how juicy it is.

I learned that grapefruit and crab can go well together…I was not optimistic, but this is a winner.
