Nominations for July

July is my favorite month. We always go to the summer cottage then. The kids can go swimming all day long, and play jailbreak with their cousins until bedtime. Its wonderful. Hoping for some delicious, easy, summery dishes for this month.

Hit me with your best shot. :)

Hope you have a great time!

    How about:

    crunchy ginger-pickled cucumbers (340)
sablé breton galette with berries (464-5)
    salmon with basil tapenade (305)
roasted jerusalem artichokes with garlic (353)

    • rosa June 15, 2012 at 12:17 PM #

All of these sound like great choices. The only one I am not sure about is the jerusalem artichokes, because I thought that was a winter veggie and might not be so easy to find in July. Or is that just in europe?

They’re starting to show up at the farmers’ market here, but that might not be true everywhere, so maybe that recipe isn’t a good idea for this month.

Maybe I’m just mistaken about the season. Let’s put it on the menu and I’ll see if I can find it when the time comes.

I have been asking around for these in England for a year and no one knows what they are (sun chokes either) and no one knows of anyone that grows them… impossible to find. I wonder why?? Jamie Oliver has them in his cookbooks!!

    crunchy ginger-pickled cucumbers (340)

I am with Teresa on July – except I am going to throw in Dieter’s tartine (p 38)

  3. betsyp June 15, 2012 at 7:00 AM #

I like Teresa’s recommendations too. And I’m too lazy to pick any more to add.

  4. acookingmizer June 15, 2012 at 7:37 AM #

    salade nicoise (125)
    tuna & mango ceviche (179)
pork roast with mangoes & lychees (278)
    seafood pot-au-feu (308)
spice poached apples or pears (396)
    blueberry marscapone roulade (442)

I would like to get some of the summer fruit recipes out of the way! :) And seafood is best during the summertime… it tends to have the best flavor!

    I 2nd Teresa’s vote.

I haven’t been a very good member these days and may end up taking it easy for the summer. However, I’ve been happy with our 1/2 CSA share this year and plan on getting a nice supply of fennel, squash, kale and I’m sure pickles. So crunchy ginger-pickled cucumbers sounds great. As does salmon with basil tapenade, Blueberry marscapone roulade – blueberries will be hitting the market, and so will tomatoes and beans. Have we exhausted all the tomato recipes?

I have not missed a FFWD and I only count 91 on my blog so far {scratches head} I thought it was going to be on Sept 7th… Maybe I am wrong tho…

        • rosa July 20, 2012 at 2:49 AM #

All right, Mardi and I put our lists together, worked out some missed recipes on both sides, and we now agree that this week’s recipe will be #94. Which I think means that we will post our 100th recipe on Friday, August 24th.

          • rosa July 20, 2012 at 2:50 AM #

No no no, why did I just type that! This week’s recipe will be number 95 and our 100th recipe will be on Friday, August 24th.
