I used this week to do a haiku catchup of the sides I’ve missed posting on as well.
Gosh even on European time I can’t beat many of you to post on a Friday!
Loved this, especially in warm weather.
I went with Dorie’s Bonne Idee and it was the perfect side for grilling out.
Not my favorite!
It would have been perfect if I hadn’t burned it!

This wasn’t a hit, and I ran into problems making it.
We loved it!
Made a salad variation with herb salad, blanched green beans, Roma tomatoes and grilled shrimp. Found the pilaf to be rather bland on its own.
I went “cold” and was happy making with Dorie’s Bonne Idee. My first cooking experience with Barley and I really enjoyed the taste and the dish.
I have to be honest, I’ve never really eaten barley before…it has an interesting texture that I’m not quite sure about but, Pierce happens to love it! I don’t even think he noticed the “vegetables” that he mostly has us pick out except for broccoli! I will be serving mine tonight with Salmon and Tomatoes en Papillote (pg. 302) from Dorie’s cookbook. http://site.foodfamilyandvino.com/
