My almond cream was not at all traditional – I had a lot of ground almond that I wanted to use up and I mixed it with Greek yogurt instead of heavy cream. It worked out really well and I got good reviews from my parents and their friends when I sent them off with some of it for their yearly trip together.
Used puff pastry and went with sour cream instead of the heavy cream. Worked out well – great light dessert.
Did you still use the almond cream with the puff pastry? I’m thinking of going that route since I have leftover puff pastry in the freezer and I hate working with phyllo.
Loved this elegant, yet pretty easy, tart! http://www.acoupleinthekitchen.us/2012/10/ffwd-crispy-crackly-apple-almond-tart.html#
