All right, for the first time I am actually going to campaign for a recipe. Don’t worry, no negative attack ads, just a general plea to please, please, please vote for the chicken liver gateaux. It has been up for a vote several times now in the past few months and I think that it has come in last every time. I know many of you will not want to make it, but it has to come up at some point, so why not now?
I voted for it!
I’m with you. Challenging our perceptions about recipes is one of the things I like best about the group, but we shouldn’t save it all ’til the end (as far away as that might seem now).
My husband made me promise not to vote for it! lol He can’t stand the thought of chicken liver. I’d be happy to try it. Not the pickled onions part, but I’d definitely make the gateaux if it got voted in. But don’t tell my husband I said that!
I’m voting for it. I had decided I might put it up for voting even if it didn’t get enough nominations, but it did. Now we just need the votes. I agree with Rose. It will be on the schedule eventually so why not now?
I just voted for it. I personally don’t even like to be in the house when these are cooked – but Nana and my Dad LOVE them. My own husband has to eat them at Nana’s house so it is about time I gave these a shot myself :)
Ditto.
Maybe I can share with my parents :-)
You ladies are awesome! Thank you so much. Way to be brave and bold!
Rosa did you see the xmas card exchange info?? your one of the last ones I’m waiting on before I finalize the list!
I’m guessing from the votes that the chicken liver didn’t make it again! One of these days…. (that’s actually ok with me!)
I am putting in a request that just like this month, we vote on and post the recipe listing for January early. I have really been appreciating the effort you’ve all gone to with the voting and posting the recipes – makes life so much easier to plan in advance!!
I will be in Myanmar from Dec 22-Jan 4th and would REALLY appreciate the chance to NOT break my “never missed a week” streak by being able to cook at least the Jan 4th entry before I leave? Otherwise I guess I am getting off the 24 hour flight and getting right into it (make it an easy one if that’s the case!!)
Plus, for those of you who are cooking over the holidays it will give you a chance to make a bunch of stuff in advance!
I’ll second that since I will be in Chicago during pretty much the same dates. Not nearly as exotic as Myanmar (which I want to hear all about!) but will be tricky to get any cooking done.
In fact, I would even be ok if our busy organizers just gave themselves a break and picked a January roster from whatever looks good to them. Whatever is easiest really so that we can get the list up early. Hopefully they know how much we appreciate them:-)
