P&Q: Mme. Maman’s Chopped Liver

Erasing the tuiles challenges from our minds, let’s move on to chopped liver. I cannot wait to deal with this one. If you have questions, problems, suggestions and tips, please leave them here.  BTW, for those of you who were wondering,  the quote “What am I chopped liver?” was said by Dennis Finch in the movie titled “Just Shoot Me.”

    Well now. I made this (of course I made 1/2 the recipe) and put it in small ramekins (trust me, smaller is better for photos) and sent one to work with Mr Neil for his lunch 2 days this week with some thinly sliced baguette. He was impressed. I don’t think it’s that hard but if you aren’t into this kind of thing it’s a bit gross to work with. I actually “chopped” the liver in my food processor ;)

    My parents and I discussed this dish over dinner tonight.

    I know this will come as a *huge* shock to everyone, but I have a modification planned. I will be trading out the chicken livers for mushroom. I still haven’t recovered from last year’s liver adventure…

      “What am I? Chopped mushrooms?” just don’t have the same effect, however.

        Perhaps not, but at least the mushroom version will get eaten.

        Maybe if I call it “chopped fungi” it will regain some of what was lost…

      I was seriously elated when you posted your prep for “Chopped Mushrooms” on instagram! I just can’t do the liver either so will probably follow your lead with the modification!!

    I purchase chicken livers for the very first time in my Life. A gal in the meat department helped me find them. I’m game.

    Was game for a 1/2 batch. Went to store to buy the livers and they are packaged, frozen in…minimum 2.5 pound packages! “What you don’t use, makes great dog food”, says the butcher. Here we go gang!

    I won’t mind the recipe for the mushroom version but vegetarian – once in a while ok lah!!
