January 2014 Schedule

Here’s the schedule to kick off the New Year 2014!

There was a three-way tie for recipes #3 and #4, so Mary and I each chose one of the three. We delegated the Admin’s choice to Mardi this month. She wanted to do two desserts. We made an exception to the rule, so her choice is the Paris-Brest.

The week-by-week schedule is:

January 3, 2014: dressy pasta “risotto” (p369)
January 10, 2014: baked apples filled with fruits and nuts (p392)
January 17, 2014: christine’s simple party soups (p62)
January 24, 2014: moules marinière (p312)
January 31, 2014: paris-brest (p475)

    YAY – TWO desserts :) 2014 is starting off sweetly! Thanks ladies – looks like a great lineup and Mr Neil will get the moules :) (Cher, we’ll get the boeuf à la ficelle soon!!)

    Only Mardi would be gunning for two desserts coming off fresh of the holidays :-)

    I think we’ll have to start giving some love to the salads, starters & small plates soon. Here is what I am showing we have left…

    Nibbles/ Hors d’oeuvres – 5
    Soups – 9
    Salads/ starters/ small plates – 17
    Beef, etc – 7
    Chicken, etc – 5
    Fish, etc – 7
    Vegetables & grains – 6
    Desserts – 6

    And…I just did the math and realized that puts us about 62 recipes left :-(

    Right but we’ve hardly had any real desserts recently (and remember the 3 fish dish month?) so I felt this was justified. Who says you have to eat the dishes? I know my colleagues will be happy with a Paris Brest :)
