Potato + Leek Soup – I am in love!
I have to say, it got two thumbs up from my family. Usually my potato soup is thicker so I was a tad weary about so much liquid, but ti was perfect. Used a potato masher instead of the mixer, so you still had some little pieces in the mouth. Will repeat this creation.
I’m enjoying a bowl of the Go-To Beef )Stew) Daube as I leave my link…and it is delicious. Wish you were all here to share this yummy dish with me.

The carrots are up next for me. Definitely full of anticipation now. I have a “cooked carrots hater” in my house, too.

Being snowed in for 3 days limited my choice of what to make to: spicey carrots, spicey carrots or the spicey carrots.
And, I have to say, it’s a lovely dish!
http://redskitchendiaries.wordpress.com/2010/12/03/french-fridays-spicey-butter-glazed-carrots/
Hi Reds…so lucky you had all the ingredients at home for these carrots! Would love to leave a comment on your blog, but it requires me to have a wordpress account and since I don’t have a wordpress blog…I don’t have an account. Is there another way to leave you comments?
Not much time to cook this week but managed the sweet and spicy nuts!

It was going to be hard to top my go-to spiced nuts recipe, but Dorie did it. I tried the Chinese five-spice powder variation. I’ll be sharing these at holiday parties!
http://kimberlykv.blogspot.com/2010/12/sweet-and-spicy-cocktail-nuts.html
A few people have left feedback on my blog about a tip in dealing with the speculoos dough, and how they wished they knew before making them, so I am sharing it for those planning on making these delicious cookies.
this dough is VERY soft, so it can be a bit frustrating when working with it. My solution for this was instead of refrigerating the dough for three hours, I put it in the freeze it for about 1 1/2 hours, already rolled out and covered in cling wrap, as recommended by Dorie. Once the dough got hard, I cut the shapes, and they came right off. And because the dough was semi-frozen, they held their shape beautifully.
Thanks for leaving this tip. I appreciate it!

I’ve decided not to stress and worry about getting my link posted exactly at the right time. The whole point is to have fun and expand my cooking/eating horizons, right? I’m glad that the rules here are pretty lax :).
I made potato leek soup. It was a perfect light dinner. Think I will bake a few gougeres I have left over in the freezer to go with it tonight!
