Another “beautiful” snowy morning in the North East. Wish I had a bowl of the soup when I came back in from shoveling a path to the garage this morning… (And I don’t even want to think about what I am going to have to do when I get home from work).
Happy New Year, Everyone!
I really enjoyed making and eating this soup!

Unfortunately, this was not a hit in our house.
http://candygirlky.blogspot.com/2011/01/ffwd-paris-mushroom-soup.html
We loved this soup, I agree with the comment from RedsKitchenDiaries it really tastes fattening; like it was made with heavy cream. Great soup to start the new year out with!

Delicious soup and surprisingly photogenic. :) And time for a confession too.
http://wscwong.typepad.com/dessert_by_candy/2011/01/paris-mushroom-soup.html
Your photos were wonderful!
holy cow! seriously fantastic photos! I admit, I was more than a bit challenged by the soup’s greige-ness when it came time to shoot the finished product.
Greige-ness is a great word!
super easy and good!

Looking at everyone else’s links, it seems my “white” mushrooms were considerably darker, but still it was quiet tasty! I only had 8 ounces of mushrooms to start with so I didn’t save any back for the salad…this time. I look forward to making this more often and playing with it a bit more. Leftovers are scheduled for a one on one with some pasta later today!
Here’s mine: http://www.jemangelaville.com/2011/01/06/ffwd-paris-mushroom-soup/
This was sooooo good! I made a couple of substitutions based on the mushrooms/onion I had in the house. Great mushroom flavor!
Another great treat, I used diffrent mushrooms as well but it was really tasty

My first FFwD post! Really loved this soup, and looking forward to cooking more recipes from the book.

Wonderful soup with a hunk of crusty bread and glass of vino – ideal for a cold winter evening…
http://newfinmysoup.blogspot.com/2011/01/french-fridays-with-dorie-paris.html
This soup was a surprise…the taste/flavors were not at all what I expected…even my non-eating mushroom children tried and liked this soup…it’s a winner! And…it’s another sunny-blue-skies-beautiful-day in AZ! Sooooo thankful there is NO snow to shovel! I send sympathy to you living the the cold.

Yummy soup!

Another vote for hard-to-photograph! :) Super good, though!
http://mybakingheart.com/2011/01/07/french-fridays-with-dorie-paris-mushroom-soup/
Loved the salad, nice crunch and fresh herb taste. I would use less rosemary next time, I found it to be more powerful than the mushroom flavour. It’s nice to be back with French Fridays after the holiday interruption. http://plixi.com/p/68438941
Happy New Year everyone! Loved the soup!! You can see all my mishaps…who has mishaps with soup???? Scroll to the end of the post for the recovered pictures.

Delicious — even the kids liked it :)
Paris Mushroom Soup was a great pick for this week. It is healthy – no cream and just a little butter; and it’s quick – I made mine in about 30 minutes. Without the green onion on top, I do find it a bit bland, BUT, overall, I give it a thumbs up. With a crusty baguette and a crispy salad, it makes a nice healthy winter meal…..a welcome respite from the holiday season.

Nana and I each had our own separate successes with this. She is a mushroom lover so it is not a surprise, while I on the otherhand was hesitant to even taste test my creation. Regardless of how great it smelled. So glad I did ! Lots of blog problems tonight so forgive the font inconsistencies- will hope our site is more cooperative tomorrow.

Yum. Love mushrooms, in any form!

We’re definitely of the pro-mushroom variety around here! Great soup for a winter’s evening!
http://www.frozenplumb.com/?p=256
This was such a marvelously simple recipe, great for a quick meal. A nice red wine, a loaf of bread and a simple romaine salad completed the repast. Next time I’m thinking of pairing it a garlic pizza, topped with gruyere or comte. http://brandnewcrayons.com/2011/01/08/cold-curing-mushroom-soup-french-fridays-with-dorie/
I just joined the group so this was my first recipe. I made the Paris Mushroom Soup yesterday evening after a full day of shopping. It is an easy recipe with few ingredients, a lovely aroma from the very start and richness without cream. I cut the recipe in half as there was just the two of us and served it with a simple salad of baby greens and toasted French baguette. My Braun immersion blender had no problem pureeing the soup. Sorry that my pictures are found on my Flicker account as I don’t have a blog. This soup is definitely a keeper.

Welcome! Your phot looks great. I’m glad you had fun with your first “Dorie” recipe. I think you’ll love the group… Oh, and the food!!!
Looks like your soup turned out perfectly! Welcome to the group.
This is my second try at linking…apparently I am link challenged but I was so sleepy last night that I could barely see when I posted.

Was the best vegan mushroom soup ever. Simple, quick and blended up to perfect smoothness.
http://veganthyme.blogspot.com/2011/01/vegan-paris-mushroom-soup-french.html
Interesting… What felt like a soup with way too much liquid, worked up to a lovely, really mushroomy flavored soup! Loved it! Hubby proclaimed it a keeper!
http://cantbelieveweate.wordpress.com/2011/01/07/french-fridays-with-dorie-paris-mushroom-soup/
Having made only half of the recipe last night, I had one serving left today for lunch. The oven is on a self clean cycle for three hours so I tasted the soup cold. It is just as yummy cold as hot.
Wonderful, earthy tasting soup, that satisfied the whole family at Serbian Christmas Eve.

A bowl of shroomy goodness!

Lovely soup!
http://foodlibrarian.blogspot.com/2011/01/paris-mushroom-soup-french-fridays-with.html
Just made the soup. 2 days late!
But anyone knows why the mushroom liquid and white wine didn’t evaporate? Instead it became more and more!
The heat needs to be on high or medium high, and the cooking pan needs to be large enough so that the ingredients don’t “boil,” but have enough space to get sauted
Ah…Thank you. You could be right. My cooking pan is rather small. But the mushroom soup stil turns out fine! =)
Everything about this soup is good… except the way it looks!

This is delicious!!

Hi, everyone! I scored a copy of the book for Christmas, and can’t wait to join in the fun. I just discovered this site and, while we didn’t make the mushroom soup this weekend, we did make Chicken Couscous for friends. Here’s a post about that:
http://writes4food.com/2011/01/09/an-international-dinner/
I promise I’ll follow the assignment for my next LYL comment!
Excited for you to join us. I’m looking forward to your to your posts!
Very pleased with the soup. So easy and LIGHT! Just two tablespoons of butter in it? I had too much onion, however, and they overshadowed the mushroom flavor a bit. DH didn’t think so. I have an issue with recipes that stipulate “one large” or “one medium” as size of vegetables and fruit vary significantly. I always appreciate a quantity reference as in, “about 1 1/2 cups.” The same with baking measurements; I really need not just volume but weight measures to get accurate results.
I totally agree with you regarding “one large”, etc. regarding veggie and fruit quantities! I’m always grateful when a recipe gives a more specific quantity.

I did make and blog about this last Friday but forgot to leave my link!
There’s a funny little story about what I almost accidentally did to my soup!
Was a wonderful soup and I thought it was perfect. My immersion blender worked well though I experimented with my food mill too. Thanks!

Loved, loved, loved this one: here’s my link http://grandmaskitchentable.typepad.com/grandmas_kitchen_table/2011/01/french-fridays-with-dorie-paris-mushroom-soup.html
Oh yah, Paris Mushroom Soup rocks–a little late but better late than never!
http://myrubyshoes.com/2011/01/10/is-there-more-soup/
I found this easy and very delightful – although for leftovers, I precooked mushrooms by frying in butter and then adding to soup reheating on stove. We preferred this to the uncooked mushroom salad method of serving.
http://findsomethingtoeat.blogspot.com/2011/01/french-fridays-with-dorie-january-7th.html
This recipe trial was late – so I will get working on this week’s and hope to post on Friday!!
Enjoyed the soup — I’d call it “very good”, though perhaps not “great”. We thought the “salad” was really key to the dish — yum.
I finally come to leave my link! All december I have been cooking along, but didn’t have the time to put up the posts or even to take a photo.
This soup was really good. We will repeat it again!

we loved the mushroom soup. Didn’t blend it at all, to please hubby. Will post it soon. Sorry to be late. :-(
I totally made the soup in time, but was too busy to post. I’m getting back on the wagon. This post includes a lot of pictures of recipes I didn’t post in time:
http://www.katrinascucina.com/2011/01/christmas-recap.html
(There are four FFWD things I made in there.)
I opted not to do the salad portion of the soup because I just don’t like raw mushrooms.
Also, I added lemon juice at the end to balance out the flavors and it really did make a world of difference. Strongly recommended.
http://sweetalmondtree.blogspot.com/2011/01/paris-mushroom-soup.html
Simple and delicious. I topped it with some light cream, and I used the “salad” as a garnish.
Finally made the mushroom soup. Definitely not my favorite.

Mushroom soup, a whole week late! Hopefully I can do better with the gnocchi.

One of my favorite recipes so far! Yum!

Here’s mine, a little late. I really liked this!
http://foodfrombooks.blogspot.com/2011/01/french-fridays-with-dorie-paris.html
I made this 2 weeks ago to share with my friends at the office and it was loved. I did add 1/3 cup of sherry & only 4 cups of chicken broth. It was rustic and chunky and amazing! Perfect for this January weather. I didn’t blend mine & I used creminis – Wonderful!!!
http://lkbkitchen.blogspot.com/2011/01/lighter-green-goddess-parisian-mushroom.html
With a generous dash of Tabasco and a dollop of creme fraiche, this fresh and healthy soup was good.
All of January’s photos and comments are posted at once on my blog. Go to:
