NO WAY!!! I’m actually first this week? wow!
yesterday was all about the bees … and sharing this cake with my fellow beekeepers … (not to mention, this cake kicks serious butt when you substitute honey for the sugar)
http://redskitchendiaries.wordpress.com/2011/05/06/french-fridays-torteau-de-chevre/
I couldn’t leave a comment on your site so I’ll do it here. I drizzled my tourteau with honey, but I should’ve used it as a sweetener too, like you did. And btw, it’s totally awesome that you’re going to beekeeping class! I’ve always wanted to do that too, and hopefully will…soon ;-).
Oooh, love the idea of substituting honey for sugar! Sounds tasty. Good job on taking a beekeeping class today instead of someday. Very cool!
What an awesome post! I love how you said your fellow bee keeping students *swarmed* all over your completed cake! Bee keepers humor no doubt :)
OH – and happy birthday!! you’re entering the best part of your thirties (I loved my thirties) – have a great day and a fantastic year!
Buon Compleanno !!!! Mid thirties is a great time, enjoy it !
I’ve done a bit of old recipes as long as the yummy tourteau

Love everything about this recipe. So much so that I cannot bear to keep this cake around me! Served with candied kumquats.

Happy birthday Lori!
Here’s mine:

Very good.
Happy birthday to you! Hope you’ll have a fab run to your 40s (when you’ll have an even better time! I know, I’m already there). Enjoy this tourteau, I served mine up with figs, sesame and thyme.

Unfortunately I was not able to complete mine on time for a true French Friday – I had the busiest, most stressful week at work (fiscal year end, among other complications) but thankfully it is almost OVER. Hugs to all the mother’s out there celebrating this weekend, and to all the kids who miss theirs.
Now whose ideas should I borrow with dignity when I actually get around making this one? ;-)
I didn’t get to making this recipe either Adriana. I must say though, from the looks and sounds of everyone else’s, it was a real winner. I must get busy and bake it soon too.

Here’s mine…I think I’ve got the correct week now (accidentally had posted it LAST Friday, took it down when I realized the error…spent quality time slapping my forehead in disgust….)

Happy Birthday Laurie! And Happy Mother’s Day to everyone.
Hi, the cake is fabulous and it was all gone in one night. Friends love it!
I have a question though. We are told to look out for a dark brown top to suggest that it is baked. For mine, it didn’t really turn down brown even though I put in another 30 minutes of baking at 350F. What is going on?

I LOVED this cake. It was the highlight of my cooking week. After finishing off half the cake in two days, I had to send the remainder to work with my husband to prevent myself from rolling around in the rest.

my favorite part of this recipe…using orange-flower water! loved it!

Looking forward to seeing what everyone thought!
Time got away from me this week and I wasn’t able to try this recipe. Boo. I’m looking forward to checking on everyone else’s completed masterpieces and see what I missed out on. I do have the ingredients on hand so I hope to get to it soon.
BTW Happy Birthday Laurie! Hope it’s a great one for you!

I’ll be posting a few days late this week…saving this for a party tomorrow night or for Mother’s Day, but I have some cute sea lions and seal photos on my blog now from a morning photo shoot at La Jolla Cove ;-) Have a great weekend!
I am calling this, “My delicious OOPS!”… it didn’t quite look like Dorie’s, but it was seriously delicious! Especially with that bottle of Australian Chardonnay! :)

Just dropping by to say how much I’ve missed participating the last few weeks! Was traveling and then came down with the crud for the last week which really set me back. This looks so good that I might try to rally for a late entry – I sure would love to eat this for Mother’s Day! Will try to get around to check out your wonderful creations. Already saw the idea for honey and love it. Honey tastes so wonderful with chevre – fantastic revision. Happy Mother’s Day to all. And a Happy Birthday to our YOUNG wonderful and fearless leader. Mid-30s? I hardly even remember them. JEALOUS!
I didn’t know what to expect but what a yummy cake. I’m going to have to make it again soon! Everyone loved it.

All day long, I kept reminding myself to come post, then I’d get busy wtih something and forget! I loved this cheesecake as did my little 4-year-old neighbor boy who called to thank me for bringing him some…cutest thing ever!

VERY nice recipe – so different, in a good way!
Have to wait another 14 hours to be able to taste this, and it looks so yummy! I’ll be updating blog after I take a few bites and get reviews from others.

I saved this for Mother’s Day so I’m a little late! This one was delicious…
http://thingsfromscratch.wordpress.com/2011/05/10/tourteau-de-chevre/
This tourteau sounds sublime; I too have been traveling (clear, chilly Col. weather!); but will definitely catch up in my Dorie recipes as they are always deeelicious & such fun to prepare. And how I enjoy all my FFWD friends!
Better late than never:
http://www.sisboomblog.com/2011/05/tourteau-de-chevre.html
And really, thank goodness it wasn’t ‘never’. This was fantastic.
I know! I almost didn’t make this one and I’m so glad I did.
I made this beautiful cake early yesterday morning. It was quite a pleasure to make and to see cooking. The cake turned out perfectly. I took it to a dinner gathering with friends and received warm reviews. (served it with Dorie’s warm caramel sauce mixed with a little espresso powder, yum) We all agreed we would like to enjoy this on its own with a glass of wine or a cup of coffee so it doesn’t have to compete with other big flavors.
ok…totally late, but I got it done. :)
My days finally settled enough for me to catch up on an AMFT recipe-gave a dinner party yesterday & served the Tourteau as an alternate dessert choice- it was a huge hit & much praised & requests for How?? I used the orange flower water & it lent a delicious flavor! Yum, yum!!
I finally got ’round to posting this one:
