LYL: roasted rhubarb

Rhubarb is my husband’s favorite. I am not a fan. So, he relies on my cousin to make him rhubarb custard pies.

Yum! I served mine with homemade cardamom and saffron ice cream!

  4. kudoskitchen June 17, 2011 at 6:41 AM #

Rhubarb is a favorite of mine and this is such an easy and perfect way to prepare it!

There is no rhubarb in the Caribbean, so I did a bit of catching up with another AMFT recipe. I’m jealous of all the little rhubarb patches some of you have at home!

Hot AZ and rhubarb don’t mix…can’t grow here. I could not find any fresh…so I adjusted. But I do love rhubarb and wish I could use it often.

I have a rhubarb patch in my own backyard. No shopping required this week. I loved it, especially with yogurt for breakfast!

Big J from me, you having your own personal rhubarb patch! Reminds me of my Grandma Kelly’s in Michigan when I was growing up. My favorite was the Greek yogurt idea. Mine was the honey and vanilla flavored. Yum!

as Garrison Keillor would say … Be-Bop-a-Re-Bop Rhubarb YUMMINESS!!!

(last night was a “skip dinner and go straight for dessert” kinda night)

    Here’s mine:

Really good. With lemon tart on the side ;-)

  11. KarenP June 17, 2011 at 7:07 AM #

I turned this into “rhubarb shortcake sundaes”. Yum!

  12. kitchenarian June 17, 2011 at 7:14 AM #

I was surprised; I think I liked it!
I served it over ice cream and I really liked the rhubarb syrup.

  13. lizzydo June 17, 2011 at 7:21 AM #

I liked this…but the rest of the family wouldn’t even take a taste!

  14. Bakeawaywithme June 17, 2011 at 7:30 AM #

  15. mardi@eatlivetravelwrite June 17, 2011 at 7:32 AM #

    Not a fan, still. Sigh.

Me either, but a twitter friend turned the Roasted Rhubarb into Ketchup that I want to try. Maybe we will be converted!?

My supermarket didn’t have any rhubarb, so I couldn’t participate this week. Sniffle. Love reading about everyone else’s experiences, though!

I went to 5 different markets and I did not find a stalk of rhubarb :(… I have to sit out this week. Hope you like roasted mangoes! :)

  21. candygirl June 17, 2011 at 8:27 AM #

The first FFWD I’ve missed! I just couldn’t do the rhubarb!

My latest post is French inspired however!

  22. rosa June 17, 2011 at 8:30 AM #

Not a successful week for me. At first I thought I just didn’t like rhubarb, but upon further review I may have either undercooked it, or my rhubarb was old and dry. C’est la vie!

  23. franklyentertaining June 17, 2011 at 8:40 AM #

My husband and I enjoyed this – my kids not so much!

  24. sharoncir June 17, 2011 at 9:02 AM #

Would you believe I couldn’t find any fresh rhubarb not even at the Farmer’s Market in our area. Oh well, inspired to plant my own for the future.

Rhubarb has always been a favorite of mine. I was lucky to find some in the store as it’s the end of the season for it here.

  26. Pachecopatty June 17, 2011 at 9:34 AM #

I love rhubarb cooked this way and also loving rhubarb from the gardens;-)

  27. MARY June 17, 2011 at 11:29 AM #

I LOVED THIS – Gone in one day. I grew up with rhubarb, cook with it every Spring, have never roasted it.

Be sure to peek at “An Italian Recipe for Happiness” by my Guest Blogger, Michelle Morgando, who has just returned home from a travel/food writing trip to Italy. Next year they are going to France ( )

Anxious to try next week’s salad.

Friday and the rhubarb are a distant memory:

  36. Maya June 17, 2011 at 5:30 PM #

No fresh rhubarb to roast in my part of the world, but in the spirit of Rhubarb Friday, I managed to turn my preserved rhubarb into something that’s cool – popsicles!

  37. Anne-Marie June 17, 2011 at 6:07 PM #

I just finished another bowl of vanilla ice cream with roasted rhubarb. Burp. Pardon me.

  38. ApronThyme June 17, 2011 at 9:19 PM #

Love all the different ways everyone served this. Getting a little tired of asparagus, but could eat this daily!

  42. Karla June 19, 2011 at 12:02 PM #

Late again, as is becoming usual!!

Not much of a rhubarb fan in recent years, but I may come back to it because of this recipe! YUM!!

  43. onewetfoot June 19, 2011 at 10:10 PM #

  45. SisBoom June 22, 2011 at 7:03 AM #

Better late (again) than never Doristas! I used this in some fun ‘to go’ parfaits for an elegant family picnic.

    Sis. Boom.
