Haven’t done this in so long I’ve kind of forgotten how! Loved this salad.

  2. thevanillapantry June 24, 2011 at 4:12 AM #

We thought it was a nice combination that we might have not have other wise tried. We took Dorie’s recommendation & served bread alongside (we included that recipe). Will add to my summer salad list!

  3. Newfinmysoup June 24, 2011 at 4:18 AM #

Lovely combination! I roasted the strawberries and used burrata.

Now that’s a thought. The roasting. What was the taste difference. Mary

Here’s my link and then off on vacation for a week of quiet & the ocean. Woo hoo!

    Happy summer everyone.

Loved this – not sure why I thought there was mint in it but it totally worked!

Next Friday I will be posting from PARIS!! Wahoo!

Thanks to the French Fridays project, I tried a recipe that, left to my own devices, I would have thumbed right by, otherwise

    la-la-LOVED it!!

  7. sanya living June 24, 2011 at 4:48 AM #

Gorgeous! A burst of summer smack dab in the middle of our winter!

  8. ApronThyme June 24, 2011 at 4:48 AM #

I had an issue in the kitchen this week. His name is Dennis. Salad was tasty though!

  9. betsyp June 24, 2011 at 4:50 AM #

We’re at the peak of strawberry season, so this was perfect. I used burrata which made this salad sing!

  10. tricia June 24, 2011 at 5:07 AM #

Another split decision and more fun all around !

  11. Karla June 24, 2011 at 5:13 AM #

On time finally! At least one recipe is…

Loved the salad – have made it twice more this week!

  12. Maya June 24, 2011 at 5:15 AM #

No strawberries as they’re out of season. So this became a TMB & Dragonfruit salad instead! Loved it ;-).

  13. anderlani1 June 24, 2011 at 5:27 AM #

I nearly forgot to do this and scrambled to throw it together for breakfast this morning. I’m glad it was a recipe that worked for breakfast!

  14. ComeUndone June 24, 2011 at 5:42 AM #

I didn’t stray far from the original recipe though I plated it a bit more restaurant-style. Very photogenic dish for sure.

We just purchased a fresh mozzarella kit from and it came in time for this recipe. Delicious.

Allison – I didn’t purchase Pink Peppercorns – My Bad. Did it actually make a

difference in taste or just presentation? Mary

      • Allison June 24, 2011 at 2:52 PM #

Huge difference! they perked up the mozzarella in such an expected way. They are my favorite thing of the week for certain!

  18. MARY June 24, 2011 at 6:29 AM #

This looked beautiful to the eye. Am having some gals for Supper next week and

am definitely putting this Summer salad on the table! My Basil runneth over so

am always glad for another use for it.

I so enjoyed this refreshing salad. Delicious!

  24. the urban baker June 24, 2011 at 9:41 AM #

This salad is one of my favorites sans the fruit. Regardless it was fun to make and the kids just love anything on a stick!

  25. tammycirceo June 24, 2011 at 9:44 AM #

Caprese Salad is a favorite of mine … adding strawberries lent a pleasant surprise.

  26. saffronandhoney June 24, 2011 at 11:27 AM #

At the end of the strawberry season here in NY – this salad was absolutely delicious.

  27. sharoncir June 24, 2011 at 12:50 PM #

made once following recipe exactly – delicious. made again using spirella (mozzarella cheese wrapped around proscuitto with basil) and it was also great. will use often this summer.

    • onewetfoot June 25, 2011 at 1:13 AM #

Wow – the spirella sounds perfect for this!

      • sharoncir June 28, 2011 at 6:39 PM #

I live in a very rural area so sometimes i have to go with what is in the frig…this time spirella was a great substitute glad you liked the idea.

  28. Cocoa and Quinoa June 24, 2011 at 12:51 PM #

Delicious and colorful summer salad – loved the strawberry twist on a regular Caprese salad. Also motivated me to make fresh mozzarella from scratch!

  29. alittleleaven June 24, 2011 at 1:11 PM #

We loved every bite of this salad – both times we ate it!

  30. Miss Kris Kitchen June 24, 2011 at 2:39 PM #

  34. Connie June 24, 2011 at 4:41 PM #

I;m back. A little early on the post to my blog, but it’s great to be back.

  35. Genkinaonna June 24, 2011 at 5:21 PM #

I wish I could have found burrata! But good even with the cheapo fresh mozzarella!

  36. athomeandawaywithme June 24, 2011 at 7:10 PM #

Absolutely loved the combination of seasonal berries and tomatoes! I used bufala and freshly-picked strawberries (which I also used in lots of other ways, too).

  37. judesa June 24, 2011 at 8:03 PM #

I took a mozzarella making class tonight so this was the perfect thing to do with the cheese that we made

  38. pbcooking June 24, 2011 at 8:12 PM #

    Wonderfully fresh salad!

  39. onewetfoot June 24, 2011 at 10:34 PM #

HELLO FRIENDS! I’ve been MIA while my family has been moving, but I’m excited to get back in the groove around here. I tasted this week’s recipe, but didn’t actually make it myself. I did make a buttermilk blackberry cake last night that I highly recommend and I posted my results for my post today.
