Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!

For some reason I always have trouble leaving a comment on your blog and this week it really doesn’t like me. So here is what I was trying to leave…

I really appreciated your post. I grew up in Vermont and spent much of the past week worried about friends and family who still live there. Luckily those close to me seem to have escaped the worst of it, but their communities are still reeling and the pictures coming out of my little home state are just heartbreaking. I hope that all of our FFwD crew and loved ones are safe & dry.

Thanks. I live fairly close to Vermont – and it is very bizarre to realize that roads I travelled on just a couple weeks ago are missing – whole communities totally cut off. It is absolutely heartbreaking.
Glad your friends & family are safe.

We like soup and we like corn so this one was pretty easy.

  3. franklyentertaining September 2, 2011 at 7:56 AM #

Can’t really go wrong with fresh corn!

  4. tastymayhem September 2, 2011 at 8:09 AM #

Summery fresh corn soup plus a mini corn roundup from my blog and twitter wanderings this week. Have a great weekend!

  5. kitchenarian September 2, 2011 at 8:16 AM #

Another winner! And I confess I didn’t even use fresh corn…

Delicious, but this was my second day in a row with a corn dish. I’m tapped out on corn for awhile now!

  12. anderlani1 September 2, 2011 at 9:07 AM #

Not my favorite soup ever, but my son loved it, which counts for a lot with me!

This is my first attempt at making creamy soup and I am glad it turned out great. Thanks to Dorie for such a simple and delicious soup.

This was a perfect soup — silken gold! My favorite recipe so far this month :p

  18. Pachecopatty September 2, 2011 at 9:33 AM #

Liquid Velvet! What a wonderful way to get back into FFWD. I accidentally missed August. Looking forward to many great recipes together.

    Here’s mine:
I changed it up a little but as I had to use an avocado before it went bad … voila! Mexican Corn Soup ;-)

We like corn soup and I caught up on the slow roasted tomatoes. Hope you all enjoy your weekend and have a happy holiday.

Tried leaving a comment on your site, not sure if worked, just in case it didn’t:
I love how cooking reminds us of so many memories. Thanks for sharing yours. Those roasted tomatoes look delicious – may make some myself this weekend. Thanks for the inspirations!

  22. MARY September 2, 2011 at 11:58 AM #

I am a corn-fed Iowa girl, born and bred, so if anyone does not like this recipe, I will take it personally. At first I thought this soup was too light (I am a bit heavy-handed with any recipe) so I made a thicker version. Nope, Dorie’s was better. I liked it, especially for Summer.

    • Confessions of a Culinadry Diva September 2, 2011 at 7:52 PM #

Hi Robin, I tried to leave you a comment. Your soup looks lovely, and I wanted to add the crab meat too, but didn’t have any.

      Have a great weekend!

      PS, great photos!

  23. teaandscones September 2, 2011 at 4:01 PM #

LOVED this soup. Fresh and colorful.

  24. Bakeawaywithme September 2, 2011 at 4:10 PM #

Sorry I’m so late. This was not a favorite…it was good but not a winner for me!

  25. laurcl September 2, 2011 at 5:21 PM # – nice to have fresh scallops so easily obtainable!

  26. Monica September 2, 2011 at 5:28 PM #
I thought this soup was REALLY good, and even better with bacon =)

  27. lizzydo September 2, 2011 at 6:01 PM #

    LOVED this soup:

  28. Confessions of a Culinadry Diva September 2, 2011 at 6:09 PM #

I adore this soup! It will be the base of many more. Can’t wait to read about what everyone else thought of the soup in their links.

    Happy Labor Day Weekend!!

  29. KY September 2, 2011 at 6:33 PM #

Yummy! We had it for dinner and lunch the next day. :)

  30. tricia September 2, 2011 at 10:23 PM #

Still technically Friday. Late but oh so glad we both made this amazing soup. Just lovely – universal thumbs up.

  31. ApronThyme September 2, 2011 at 10:31 PM #

Looks like this one was a winner all the way around. Us too, although I’d never actually cut kernels off a cob before. What a newbie. Love this long weekend!

  32. Genkinaonna September 3, 2011 at 3:01 AM #

Whew! Just squeaking in under the wire!

  33. onewetfoot September 3, 2011 at 3:06 AM #

I really enjoyed this soup and my partner, who’d been dubious about it, was pleasantly surprised to find he loved it, too. He even asked for seconds!

  34. bclaire September 3, 2011 at 1:14 PM #

Sorry this is late, but Friday’s are hectic. Soup was a hit as was the creme fraiche!
I wished it tasted a little “cornier” but it was delicious.
    Enjoy the holiday mes amis!

  35. Connie September 4, 2011 at 7:20 PM #

I’m late. It was a crazy week and no time to cook but the weekend.

    Great Soup

  36. Marie September 4, 2011 at 11:18 PM #

Finally made the soup, and, like everyone else, really liked it.

  37. Candy September 7, 2011 at 12:04 AM #

  39. Lola's Kitchen September 19, 2011 at 4:09 PM #

Mon Dieu! Only 4 months late with the post, although I did enjoy this soup in September….
