This is my first FFWD post- it’s exciting!

I love that your blog name is “always add more butter” — I just posted my soup and, what d’ya know…I added more butter! :) Welcome!
The perfect meal-in-a-bowl for a cold winter’s night…

A piping hot bowl of this would be lovely on this snowy NY morning! At least I have the day off and can watch the snow from the warmth of my house…

It took me a lot longer than I expected, but it was good when it was finally done.
I loved this. It’s definitely going to replace my old onion soup recipe! http://joracooks.blogspot.com/2012/02/ffwd-cheese-topped-onion-soup.html
I agree!
hungry hubby = not very patient hubby, but delicious soup!!

Best French Onion Soup ever! I made baguettes for the topping and they went perfectly with the soup.
I tried a bazillion times to leave a comment on your blog and I couldn’t get those made-up words to work for me. I swear to god I was typing them exactly as they were but whatever. I just wanted to say your soup and baguettes looked great and thanks for mentioning the brand of the bowls in the book because I think I need to buy them! Sorry I couldn’t get it to work on your actual blog!
Loved this one (again!) I made it for the very first week of FFWD as a vessel for my leftover gougères

I conducted a comparative study on French Onion Soup and made a few conclusions, including: (1) I need go to France; (2) Don’t like this with chicken broth (3) Tend to agree with the majority that homemade beef stock is the way to go here…Happy Friday!

This was sort of blah for me. I don’t think I’d use chicken stock again either.

It sure was hot, but we enjoyed it and it’ll definitely feature again in our home.

An hour and a half to caramelize half the onions (I was only making enough for two large servings) but worth it!

I love onion soup! It took quite awhile to get any color on the onions, but in the end it was a nice dinner.

Loved it !
Took me forever to caramelize the onions, but worth all the caramelizing time as this soup is delicious…I’m in the beef stock camp…next time.

Your post inspired mine — have no fear, Julia Child to the rescue!
wasn’t sure if I could pull this off, but it was delicious!!

Yummy!

At dinner last night, this soup was declared by my critic as “the best French Onion Soup” he had ever tasted. That’s something, Dorista’s! Hats off (or, a swig of cognac) to Dorie on this one………

You have reason to brag.

I haven’t done my soup or post yet, but the day is still young! It’s been 90 the last three days and hot, heavy soup has not been appealing.
I thought you might enjoy this post I came across on Hungry Australian and wanted to share! All this great information in one spot –

Also, still haven’t been able to get to reading TWD posts yet – my dogs surgery was pretty major and yesterday was the first day back on the computer. No cancer though – yeah!
Great news about your dog! And thanks for the information – interesting article (though it will take me a while to get through the other links!). I’m totally with you – the TWD posts are daunting! I guess this hasn’t been my week for bloggish things! But it’s still fun!
I did make a light and refreshing Tangelo Pudding if you are looking for a way to use some citrus -

I enjoyed it, but my onions took too long to caramelize!

Lovely! I like it better that the America’s Test Kitchen recipe.

Looking forward to March recipes!
Tired of chopping onions yet? I am. I added some bay leaf and thyme for extra flavor. It turned out really nice!

I loved this soup before, and I love it again. I just wish it didn’t take so long.
http://cookbookimmersionproject.blogspot.com/2012/02/ffwd-cheese-topped-onion-soup.html
i’ve always wanted to try onion soup!
http://sanyaliving.com/2012/02/24/cheese-topped-onion-soup/
I cheated — used Julia’s onion carmelizing technique to cut time down to 40 minutes: http://www.amysfoodroom.com/2012/02/onion-soup-cheese-topped-wffwd.html
Verdict – delicious!
I surprisingly loved this soup – who knew that onion soup tastes so good when not made out of a packet:

Loved it. User problems with posting via mobile. Will update in a few days.

Anything more frustrating as a blogger than setting your auto publish settings wrong? Gone all day and my posting is finally up now instead of midnight. Another winner: http://wp.me/p1Juyy-8J
This soup is exactly what winter eating should be. Heck, spring’s practically here and I’d like some more.
http://onewetfoot.com/2012/02/24/ffwd-cheese-topped-onion-soup/
Fabulous again…
Dorie said to melt the cheese (Gruyère, Comte, or Emmenthal) under the broiler…well mine didn’t melt but just slightly melted and burned…doesn’t that sound yummy ~ actually it was!

I’m cutting it close with just 15 more minutes of Friday left… I had 20 people (in-laws) for dinner tonight, so I’m just catching before bedtime. I won’t get a chance to catch up everyone’s posts until Sunday night, but hope everyone has a great weekend.
I LOVED this soup.

Might miss next week if the March recipes aren’t posted over the weekend. Heading to Florida next weekend, so I’d have to cook before Wednesday.
À bit late, but was on vacation. I made the onion soup before I went, it tastes great.

Sorry to be late. I did make this in plenty of time. The blogging is still the chore. http://tsimmisthyme.wordpress.com/2012/02/26/ffwdcheese-topped-onion-soup/
I want to apologize to all with blogspot or blogger sites; I cannot leave a comment.
YUM, YUM, YUM!

http://lolalive2day.blogspot.com/2012/02/ffwd-cheese-topped-onion-soup-part.html
I’ve always wanted to make french onion soup and didn’t want to miss out on this opportunity, but I couldn’t make it until this weekend. I am so glad that I made this soup!
http://ecalifornialiving.blogspot.com/2012/02/cheese-topped-onion-soup.html
Took all my nerve to post this (very late!). This one caused tears, mine, and they weren’t the happy kind!
http://Www.apronthyme.blogspot.com
I had the ingredients sitting on stove with good intentions, it was worth the wait all enjoyed.
